It is with much regret we report that Master Curtis (Sir Richard Curtis QC) sadly died on Friday 15 October, aged 88. The Inn’s flag will fly at half-mast on Friday 22 October, in his memory.
Master Curtis was called to the Bar in 1958 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1977. He was a Recorder from 1974-1989 and the Recorder of Birmingham from 1989-1992 as well as a Senior Circuit Judge on the Oxford and Midland Circuit during the same period. Subsequently, he was Presiding Judge on the Wales and Chester Circuit from 1994-1997 and was appointed a Judge of the High Court of Justice, Queen’s Bench Division, 1992-2005.
Master Curtis was elected a Governing Bencher of the Inn in 1985.
