Pupils Practice Management Course

The Pupils' Practice Management Course is held at the Inner Temple once a year, in January.

The Practice Management Course will next take place on Saturday 14 January 2023

The Practice Management Course is no longer a compulsory part of a pupil's training, but attendance is very much encouraged as it provides useful practical information on life at the Bar for those in the early years of their careers.

The course advises pupils on how to run their practice as a business in the modern world and provides information on the various obligations of a new practitioner.  Sessions include guidance on financial management, group discussions of ethical problems, a talk on marketing, as well as a session on the organisational aspects of the business of being a barrister.

The day includes a session in which pupils are addressed by barristers' clerks and solicitors about the way to benefit their practice as well as their pocket, and another in which pupils hear advice from judges and new practitioners on what to do and what not to do during those tentative first days in court.
