The Use of Electronic Evidence in the Law
Event Details

Computer-generated evidence is playing an increasing role in legal disputes. This talk discusses the potential impact of computer bugs on the reliability of electronic evidence, including the Post Office Horizon Scandal, and what documentation may be available to assess to what extent it is appropriate to depend on such evidence.

A scientific presentation will be given by Steven Murdoch, Professor of Security Engineering, a Royal Society University Research Fellow and head of the Information Security Research Group of the Department of Computer Science at University College London. The legal perspective will be given by The Rt Hon Lord Justice Peter Fraser, appointed in December 2023 as both Chair of the Law Commission of England and Wales and a Lord Justice of Appeal.
