In 1925 six Bills relating to property legislation received the Royal Assent which aimed to ‘simplify’ and ‘make certain’ all land transactions, as well as reduce the number of estates, and make negotiations more affordable.
• Much of that legislation has now been repealed and replaced but to what extent were these Acts successful in facilitating and securing dealings in land?
• Were the hopes of the legislators achieved?
• Were the objectives of the Acts accomplished, and if so, how?
• What further reforms were/are needed?
• Is more legislation required to ensure the secure, effective and affordable dealings in land and property?
• What should property regulation look like in 2125?
This conference seeks to reflect and analyse ‘after 1925’
Tickets: £25 include tea, coffee and lunch

A one-day conference for those seeking guidance and support in returning to the Bar, taking a career break, or moving practice area.
As part of its work to develop a new programme of events and support for those returning to the bar after a period away, the Inn will be running a full day conference on this subject on Thursday 22 May. The day will include panel talks with speakers from a range of backgrounds, sharing their experiences such as going on and returning from maternity leave, navigating self-employed practice as a parent, moving practice area or chambers and adapting to change when things do not go to plan.
Interactive workshop sessions will focus on mentoring, building confidence and resilience, and roundtable discussions will focus on financial support, how time away can enhance your skills, how to start having conversations with chambers and clerks about taking a career break, and how to refresh your advocacy skills on returning to the bar.
The day will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm, including lunch and followed by drinks reception, and is free of charge to attend.
