Aimed at the students and the Young Bar, our diverse panel of employed pupils will talk about their experiences in pupillage and offer insights and tips about the application process and the benefits (or pros and cons) of being employed.
Alfie Evans (Called 2021 Inner Temple)
Alfie is a qualified barrister and legal trainee at the Government Legal Department, currently completing his fourth and final seat of training at the Attorney General’s Office. He completed his second six on secondment at 39 Essex Chambers.
Rebecca Paterson (Called 2021 Gray’s Inn)
Rebecca completed pupillage (2023) and practised In-house at the Nursing and Midwifery Council before joining Pump Court Chambers where she specialises in employment and regulation.
Commodore James Farrant RN (Called 2007 Gray’s Inn)
An employed barrister in the Royal Navy, James Farrant is Deputy Director of Service Prosecutions and an internationally recognised expert in the law of the sea.
Daisy Caldwell (Called 2022 Lincoln’s Inn)
Daisy completed her pupillage in the CPS last year and specifically targeted the Employed Bar for her career in practice. She is very recently out of pupillage and now practising as a Crown Advocate within the CPS.
Carlé Aven-Kamal (Called 2021, Inner Temple)
Carlé is a barrister in the specialist advocacy service at DAC Beachcroft. She has experience of assisting in handling serious multi-track personal injury claims across employers liability, public liability and road traffic accident. Carlé was amongst the first tranche of pupil barristers on DAC Beachcroft’s (8DB) in-house chambers service pupillage programme in 2023.
