California Lawyers Association Transatlantic Demonstration Moot

Ever wondered how a courtroom battle changes when argued from different sides of the Atlantic?

Join us for a dynamic moot in our Lecture Theatre on Wednesday 22 April 2026, before a distinguished panel of judges, with Barristers from the Bar of England and Wales versus trial attorneys from California, demonstrating contrasting advocacy styles, strategies and courtroom culture.

Loosely inspired by the dispute surrounding the viewing gallery at Tate Modern, this realistic appellate moot will focus on a newly constructed building and its alleged interference with neighbouring properties. It will give our audience the opportunity to discover how procedure, persuasion and legal reasoning differ between common law systems while watching advocates compete to convince the court.

This event forms part of the California Lawyers Association’s biennial programme, “A Week in Legal London”, which gives visiting attorneys and judges to experience the workings of the legal system in England and Wales, expand their litigation skills and engage in thought-provoking discussions with distinguished members of our legal community.

Followed by a networking reception.
